Introduction

In50Hrs is a Weekend Hackathon where people with Ideas, Developers, and Designers get together to give life to ideas and have working prototypes before the weekend is out, present it to a room full of like-minded folks, and perhaps pave the way for the beginning of a new product.

Basically, a funtoosh event full of energy and all great geeks. I volunteered twice as UI designer for it. And some of the most coolest projects and team I have worked with came through #in50hrs ("6Persona with Mani Doraisamy and team").Below are few of my work samples.

Introduction

SocialHub is a Social Media Management platform for Facebook and Twitter. It enables to securely post content across all major social networks through multiple channels (My task was limited to twitter and facebook), schedule message deliveries(Calendar), moderate user comments, track real time analytics(Anlaytics),control team access and permissions, capture and manage user data(Social CRM), direct message on facebook and twitter and a lot more

This was certainly the most challenging project I have completed so far. Not so much in the technical aspects but simply the amount of requirment gathering and iteration work involved. Working closely with the team using questionnaires and one-on-one interviews, a project "worth doing" emerged - extending the company marketing suite to the mobile platform. Requirement gathering informed wireframes and mockups, which lead to a proof of concept in the form of a mobile web application, developed using the jQuery Mobile Framework.

My role : Requirement gathering, wireframing, prototying. Tools and Techniques: Paper Prototyping,Visio and html, css, jquery prototyping using jquery mobile framework. You can see the a basic live demo version here

Introduction

Contact form is most crucial page for interacting and getting feedbacks from your users. It's importance is even more increased, if you have recently launched/launching a service. When Company 'X' contacted me for making this contact page, the simple brief was "We want our customers and users to be 100% free with us. If they are stuck in shipping, want to appreciate, say bad words about our service or just want to say Hi, we are available 24 x 7 for support. Design a contact page for your friend."

Thus, I designed an inviting Contact Page which enlist ways 'X' can be contacted with a captcha for human. Tools - Low and high fidelity wireframe, html, css, jquery.

Introduction

Dashboard is an effective medium of communication. One of the most challenging part of dashboard design is the need to arrange many items of information and then present them in a manner that doesn't result in a cluttered mess. The below shown design went through following stages -- Organizing the information, Maintaining Consistency, Aesthetically Pleasing, Testing.

Below are two screeshots of ADD PRODUCT and PRODUCT LIST page of an ecommerce portal. This design went through numerous iterations. For ex- Since the store had 3 levels of Categorization for adding product, it became very crucial to make this interface extreamly simple. So, initially the Category block will show one list box comprising of all 1st level category. When you choose one among them, it shows another list box comprising 2nd level Category and so the 3rd. And if you feel your product should be added in a new category, you can add that in "Suggest New Category". It also shows the selected category dynamically as breadcrumb just below the list box. .

This a responsive layout which works pixel perfect in IE6 without any CSS Hacks . Tools - Low and high fidelity Wireframe, HTML, CSS, Jquery.

Introduction

There were many usability issues coming up frequently at shopo. The number increased as spcial features started pouring like (free shipping etc). Thus, the changes were made in header section and a navigation panel was added. Since the divisions and number of catagories was huge, I opted to go for a mega drop down menu with proper use of indenting, white space and sepration ruler for easier and quicker scanning of sub categories. Transpareny was kept in the drop down banckground so that people can still look thorugh the site content partially. Tools - Low and high fidelity wireframe, html, jquery and css.

Introduction

Wireframe for an Ecommerce Portal Home Page. It went through lot of refinment. The maain challenge was to organize 'n' information and feature set, solving user problems with the existing interface, referring analytics data (to see most clickables areas and features) etc. Tools used : Paper and Adobe Illustrator.

Problem1: For users who have placed order couldn't figure out where to check for their order status. Thus, they ended up calling Custome Care to check their order status.
Solution: Placing the link "Track your Order" on header resulted in 30% reduction of customer calls.

Problem2: Since the default viewing was based on "new products first", Old Products were now seen on first page and resulted in NO SALE. It was noticed that few products also had discounts but they were never shown in first page, so they went unnoticed.
Solution: Enlisting these products on a separate block in homepage entitled "What's HOT here" with original and discounted rate shown, dramtically increased the sale graph and seeing this sellers started offering discounts on more products.

Brochure design done for Times Numerologist, Malinie Arora's personal healing studio. She wanted each category to be represented by a healing colors.

I choosed earthy color as my base color with a slight grunge texture and then complimented it with healing colors. Being a complete idiot towards all healthy habits, I sat with her to understand what exactly each healing category does, read reference materials and then based on the readings enhanced the design by adding related icons to each category.
